This optional 90-minute session, open to all workshop participants and led by Tatevik Grigoryan (UNESCO), will provide an introduction to UNESCO’s frameworks (including the Internet Universality Indicators and the ROAM-X framework) for assessing Internet development in a country. With a particular focus on National Statistical Offices (NSOs), the session will explore how official statistics and administrative data can provide robust evidence for national digital policy assessments. It will highlight the strategic role of NSOs within national statistical systems in ensuring the provisioning of quality data. Participants will also discuss practical opportunities for mapping existing national data sources to the UNESCO framework, identifying data gaps, and strengthening collaboration among statistical authorities and other stakeholders to support inclusive, evidence-based digital policies.
